.sungkai to tanjung piai.

assalamualaikum,

yeah,
more on our motorcycle trip.
i better update this before ejal starts nagging again!
why?
because this trip happened in july.
but come on,
that's only four months ago!
and i figured
as he already came up with videos of this trip,
shared them on his social media platforms,
i don't have to write anything on it anymore.

wrong!
he said,
my blog readers should read my point of view
about these trips we took.
you know,
tips for reference
on where to eat,
rating on the food we tried,
where we spent the night,
the cost of it all etc.
because those weren't included in his videos.
okaaaay.
so, here goes.

.the 1,043 km journey we took, according to rinjani's odometer.

as you can see in the map,
before reaching sendayan,
we went to kantin@setor gombak for an early dinner.
i wanted to try the food there after viewing a video
of that place on facebook.

it was actually a food court
where you can get a variety of food in one place.
a surau and washrooms are also provided for customers.

.kantin@setor gombak in jalan gombak, kuala lumpur.

we tried dee sepet's oden,
nasi kukus,
chicken chop,
pisang goreng crispy
and sotong bakar.
we wanted to try the famous 3 budak gemok dish.
but we were a bit early.
so, they were not ready yet.

the surrounding was clean and airy.
there was a space for kids to play
and nearby there's a space for busking
and also selling second hand items (bundle).

we spent the night at our brother's house in sendayan.
we got to meet afiq and anis!
they showed us their skills
on playing the guitar and the organ.

early the next morning,
we continued our trip to johor.

.restoran kari kambing 40 hari, yong peng.

we reached restoran kari kambing 40 hari during lunch hour.
the place was packed!
the restaurant opens at 7.30am till 3.00pm.
motorcycles were properly parked along the road in front of the restaurant.
cars were parked to the right side of the restaurant.

this is a self-service eatery.
it's pretty efficient i might say.
there are two lines at the food counter,
one to get the food to dine-in
and another for take away.
you can choose to have nasi arab kari kambing or ayam
in a single plate or in a tray (enough for 4 pax).
if you choose the tray, you can eat directly from it
or you may ask for plates.
however, the ones provided are polystrene plates.
i'm not sure whether because the crowd was overwhelming that day
and they were out of plates
or it's their usual practice.

on another side, there's a counter to get drinks.
there's also a counter for roti canai.
surau and washrooms are provided.
interestingly, they also provide a metal storage rack
where we can put our helmets.
this is convenient for riders as we wouldn't want to hog the chairs
that other customers could use.

.nasi arab kari kambing and nasi arab ayam.

don't they look yummy?
mine was the nasi arab ayam.
it comes with a side of curry gravy and salatah (the vegetables).
the portion is big for me.
i didn't finish the rice and shared the quarter chicken with ejal.
RM12.00 per plate
and RM45.00 per tray.

i'm satisfied with the service and facilities provided
and the food was good!

.taman negara tanjung piai, pontian.

we then continued our journey to tanjung piai national park in pontian.
alhamdulillah the ride was smooth
but all of a sudden,
in the middle of the highway,
i had a wardrobe malfunction!
the zipper of my jacket was broken.
i had to hold on to the jacket for almost 20 minutes,
preventing it from opening and flapping away,
potentially causing danger to us,
before we stopped at an R&R and had a look.

long story short,
we stopped at the nearest motorcycle shop we can find.
they can't help though.
i fixed it myself.
no need to buy a new jacket!

.southernmost tip of mainland asia, tanjung piai.

it was scorching hot when we reached the national park.
had a drink we bought from the convenience store inside the park
and we were ready to explore!

to reach the southernmost tip of mainland asia,
we had to walk for about 1 km from the main entrance/visitor's complex.
you will be walking through a mangrove area on a boardwalk.
there were a few hut provided along the way.
a good place to rest awhile or have a photo session.

one of the jetty was on renovation.
it is said that from that jetty
one can see all three countries,
malaysia, indonesia and singapore.

for more info on this national park,
please go here!

.a'famosa, alor gajah, melaka.

we then spent the night at jasin where ejal's sister is.
the next day we rode around malacca city
snapped some photos,
and rode back to sungkai.
alhamdulillah the journey went well.

where to next?
