.prior to FET.

assalamualaikum everyone!

welcome back :)

there were four of us that day, 28th february. two of us were ready for FET and another two for ovum pick-up. no nurse, so one of us had to be one and jot down the doctor’s notes.

i was instructed to inject myself with pregnyl 10,000 iu at 9.00pm that night. confused and excited at the possibility that all of our effort might be successful very soon, i was immediately convinced that i was given the dose months ago. therefore, i drove back home happily.

what i meant by months ago was september 2014, the 19th to be exact*. as it turned out, i don’t have pregnyl! i searched high and low, in and out of the kitchen despite the fact that the meds was supposed to be stored in the fridge. i panicked as it was almost 9.00pm. ejal was out buying dinner.

* that was when i was to start my ovum pick-up procedure. the rest of the meds were in the fridge and kitchen cabinet since last year. how am i supposed to remember which meds was for what?

i was flustered, hysterical even. there’s no pharmacy in sungkai. does the nearest hospital has it? is it okay if i inject myself the next day? i don’t want to wait for another cycle which only Allah knows when. it could be another 3 months or more and who knows what would happen then! i needed this dose to trigger and start taking duphaston and ventolin because i was supposed to go to HUKM for FET on 3rd march.

embarrassingly, i cried. i messaged my doctor and included a crying emoticon. how shameful! he didn’t reply so i called him. well, to make things short, i got the dose of pregnyl and then all was well. he still made fun of me crying though. he will never going to let it rest, i think. he said he was surprised because “you’re a strong lady”. he even shared this incident with his staff while i was there the other day. the nerve of that man!

there's no one to blame but myself. i should have keep track of my meds. sigh~

.the much awaited news.

assalamualaikum,

how are you? in pink of health, i hope :) let's continue, shall we?

this is a story all about how my life got flipped-turned upside down,

and i'd like to take a minute just to sit right here,

i'll tell you how i became an expectant lady of a town called sungkai.

eheh.

we were the first ones in the waiting room

at the labour ward that morning,

my mom and i.

we waited and waited from 8.00am till 10.30am.

witnessed dads-to-be waiting patiently

and mothers with their newborns.

a beautiful sight :)

the doctor scanned my uterus and ovaries.

he was satisfied with its size

and only looked at one of my follicles.

he announced that i was ready for FET.

i was thrilled!

i wanted to smile from ear to ear,

 i wanted to giggle silly but i didn’t.

 instead i smiled politely.

i can’t stop smiling and thanking Allah swt,

 imagining myself getting pregnant all the way,

as i walked back to my mom.

.3-week sick leave.

assalamualaikum readers,

sorry for the long hiatus.

this is an entry i wrote in my small notebook back in march :

today is the tenth day after my frozen embryo transfer procedure. i’m in the living room. listening to jazz, looking out at the evening sun. i’m not allowed, advised, not to touch any electronic devices especially mobile phone, ipad and laptop for twenty-one days. it is a challenge! no whatsapp, no facebook, no blog!

what has the world come to? are these worldly things so important that i can’t find something else to fulfil my days and nights? no friends, no colleagues, no pupils! (i’m actually okay with this teehee!) i have to stay at home throughout this period. not even allowed an outing to the pasar malam. imagine that.

my sources of joy are from food, my novels by the big bad wolf, various entertainment on the telly, games such as scrabble and puzzles and some quiet time with Him. oh yes, your companionship means a lot to me too, dear husband. hmm and naps! yeah, i take naps two times a day. ahhh heaven.

so, back to the topic of my ivf treatment. we went for a scan on the 27th of february. we were early and finished early which was before 10.00 am! however, the good doctor was not in. he asked me to see him at 2pm. as ejal had to attend a meeting with his staff, off he went home by train. i went back to the hospital, the doctor went through my scan report and asked me to come back the next day at 10.30 am for another scan.

i asked him nervously, excitedly, while controlling my giddiness,

“am i ready for FET?”

he replied,

“come tomorrow and i’ll let you know.”

ughh exasperating, i know!

i had to wait for another 18 hours just to know whether it was a yay or nay result.
